This manual was written to give you a little education on biracial hair care, and often answer some of the questions we get most. These tips on Biracial Hair care should be helpful in developing a treatment to give you healthy hair. After a brief introduction, we are moving into a question and answer.
Unfortunately I can not tell you exactly what is best for you or for your child. I deliberately avoided a cookbook approach in the original instructions because properCare of hair is more an art than a science. Each person's hair a little different and requires a slightly different maintenance routine. My two daughters, with the same father and mother have different hair types. I think that is an oil, which is excellent for hard for the others. After years of trying, I regimes that have the best for each of the three of us. While my own children are not biracial, I have several nieces and biracialNephews and have helped many people with biracial children. So, I hands-on know-how have in this area. I'm still tweaking the routines for my daughters, as I find new products and, as I gather more experience. But, I with my tips and routines you. This should develop into useful starting points for you to your own routine. Biracial hair care is still difficult to find as African hair care. We are often white mothers who have given birth approached byChildren with hair very dissimilar to theirs, and what they are accustomed. Races (actually Transracial) adoptions are becoming more common, and the same situation. Most African Americans are multi-ethnic. Thus, African-American hair textures and a wide variety of needs. Biracial hair care need to cover a wider range of textures and needs.
The expectations for Biracial Hair
The number one complaint we get about black hair is that it looks dryor blunt. We get the same complaint about biracial hair, followed closely by complaints about "frizzyness" and followed difficulty in combing. Before too far to walk your natural hair full of luster and shine, it is best to have the proper expectation. Natural Black or African hair is not as shiny as permed hair or white. A large part of what makes hair shiny is the structure of the hair, not just the amount of oil or moisture. If the cuticle flat (straight hair), hairreflect the light is better (translated will appear shiny). If the cuticles are raised, the hair absorbs light (translated will appear more dull). Without changing the structure of the hair (as always in a perm or relaxer for us African Americans), we are the only hair so shiny. By applying a lot of fat (see below for the types of oils I recommend), so it shines, you could end up damaging the hair. Having said that, natural African hair can appear healthy, smooth and have a nicehealthy glow. is said, the second complaint we get most often about biracial hair that is too curly or too frizzy. There are some things you do to frizzyness can control and crimp. But if you click Effect "permanent" (permanent until it grows out anyway) changes do, you are looking at a chemical process. One thing we often advise mothers about but please do not expect your child's hair like yours. And please do not make her feel as if something is wrong with itHair because it "frizzy" or curly. You should picture your child's hair as a collection of fine fibers. It should be as gentle as you would a fine washable silk blouse. The better you treat her hair, the easier it will be to grow and the better it will look. You should be aware that African hair and biracial hair tends to be drier than Caucasian hair. The structure of our hair makes it difficult for the oils on their way from the scalp, working to the ends of the hair. Because ourHair is kinky, it tends to confuse and pull out these complications can cause breakage. In spite of appearances, black hair and biracial hair tends to be more susceptible than white hair. The lack of moisture and elasticity, and The Kinks, make that grabbed when styling or combing the hair, which can be obtained easily broken. Someone once asked me if you want the natural hair can be combed. Actually, the answer is probably no. I do not think our hair was structured to be combed at all. So as long as wedo we have to do what it the least damage possible. My two daughters have natural hair. We received many compliments on her hair. They are not technically biracial. We have a mixed heritage (like most African-Americans). But for the same things I can do it for many care adapted for biracial hair. Here are my "secrets" are.
Tools for Biracial Hair Care Products
Wide choose loupe or made to African Americans or brushHair. We want to "untangle" Combs and the Kakakiki Kombbrush

How can I comb out kinky biracial hair?
This section is particularly important for those of you who have not worked with curly hair. Nevertry to comb out kinky hair while it is dry. Use a moisturizer to provide elasticity of the hair and reduce friction. Be sure that a large magnifying glass. You may want to look for a "detangling" comb. If you're used to fine tooth combs, it might be a little strange to look. But generally speaking, the farther apart the teeth better. I usually do not use brush bristles, because I think they tend to grab the hair. I have a Kakakiki KombBrush that does a great job on the girlsnatural hair. It is a combination comb and brush in one device. It is shaped like a brush, but it has some teeth more like a comb. Be patient and gentle when combing kinky hair. If your daughter cries, remember that you pull too hard. I begin with the work in sections. I part the hair and tie from the part I do not work at the moment. I gently grasp the hair near the scalp with my free hand and work the comb against the hand, rather than against the scalp. Combgently beginning near the roots and work your way up-until all kinks are free. I then tie that section and start the next section.
How do I wash biracial hair?
You should begin by washing hair about once a week. In winter, this could stretch out a little longer. I wash more often in summer when the children playing outside and sweating. But, is one of the most common mistakes made non-African parents Biracial or African children have to wash theirChildren's hair too often. Many of my friends wash their hair every day Caucasian, because you have fine hair that will have weighed with their natural oils. In a biracial child, over washing can cause dullness and dryness. For biracial hair care, washing, please, a little more frequently than once per week. But, it is seldom that more than a few times washed per week. I like to use different shampoos to eliminate the possibility to build-up of a specificShampoo.
Between washes
If your child swims or sweats from her scalp, you could try to wash often. One way to stretch, which for the time between washings just rinse your hair with warm water, condition and go from there.
Washing a child's hair
If your child is very young (young to keep their eyes closed), use a baby shampoo no tears. These shampoos contain agents that keep the eyes from stinging. These shampoos canDrying, especially for the African or biracial hair care. So, the transition to a nice mild shampoo as soon as possible.
How can I dry biracial hair?
Wash gently but thoroughly, massaging the scalp while washing. If you dry, blot with a towel as rubbing vigorously. Avoid heat as much as possible to dry. Allow the hair to air dry or you can even a conditioning cap, some of the moisture before the rays of the hair with forced hot driveAir.
How can I condition biracial hair?
Immediately after washing the hair condition according to the instructions on the bottle of conditioner. If the bottle, no directions, a small amount of conditioner to the hair, they are working through. Let sit flush on the hair for at least 1 minute.
How do I deep conditioner hair biracial?
At least once or twice a month, after shampooing, deep condition the hair. I use aseveral products. Create a climate of deep conditioning products on after shampooing and use either a microwave or professional heat cap for 30 minutes or so. The gentle moist heat from the cap allows to open the cuticle of the hair and penetrate the moisturizer to the hair shaft. A good hot oil treatment could be done here instead.
How can I moisten biracial hair?
The most important key to healthy African American or Biracial hair care is moisture. Becausethe structure of our hair, it tends to dry easily. Dry hair lacks elasticity and therefore brittle. Moisten with good products and do it often. Moisturizing is not necessarily the same as to be oiled. And it certainly is not the same as putting what we call before "Grease" (see below). After moistening the Deep Conditioning or Conditioning I. I recommend at least moisturizing twice a week. I moisturize when I style and often in between, if we are, wear a holiday inStyle for several days.
Should I oil on biracial hair?
The issue of whether oil is not, or is controversial in African or biracial hair care. You must decide for themselves. My experience is that for my daughters and me, the oil is good for our hair. The right oil is of crucial importance. We use only all natural oils, most vegetable oils. We avoid mineral oil and petroleum products. The only notable exception to the rule is vegetable oilEmu oil (an animal oil). I love emu oil! Not only soften it and lubricate it contains essential fatty acids and reduces inflammation, the hair grow. However, anointing one of those places where you really need to experiment. One of my daughters can use a heavier oil than the others. You can even use pure shea butter. The other daughter's hair looks thin and weighed with shea butter. My biracial nieces have different needs. It has very fine, straight hair and does not requireadditional oils in general. The others are a light oil, which really helps control frizziness.
To apply the product, I have a little of the product in my hand (and melt it, if it's a solid product). I then rub rub it on the hair and scalp. I will not use what does not melt at body temperature. If I happen to use something with a little beeswax (which has a relatively high melting point), I make sure it still melts at body temperature, so it is notbuild. I often mix a few of the products. To be sure, I mostly use products that are liquid at room temperature. Some of my favorite oils are:
Shea butter oil has the wonderful properties of Shea Butter, but in a much lighter, liquid form. We began our company selling nothing as Shea butter products. That was before Shea Butter was as popular as it is now. It is still an important part in many of our hair and skin care products. We use Shea butter as a main component of oilin several of our products.
Emu Oil-unbelievably good for scalp health. Improves circulation, reduces inflammation and has natural antiseptic properties. All to promote hair growth.
Jojoba oil is the closest thing to natural sebum itself. Jojoba oil is technically a wax, not oil. It can actually make oily skin less oily and dry skin, oily, in other words, it helps the skin back into balance. In the case of biracial hair care, we usually try in, oil into the scalp.
RoleOil-Nice all natural vegetable oils helps that humectify (pull moisture) the hair and scalp
How often should I moisturize biracial hair?
This is very important. I repeat the wetting and / or oils above steps on a daily basis when I am combing / styling the girls' hair. Even if we are in a non-comb style (like twists), I will touch you, just a day with something. I am careful to avoid building and I do not use much product. They will experiment withto see your hair, how often they must be moistened, and use the weight of the product you should.
How can I style biracial hair?
Generally, I style the girls' hair without the use of styling products. Since they are young, they are usually like in a ponytail, pigtails, braids or. But I can mix it and am very careful to close styles that damage to the scalp and even a certain kind of hair loss. I especially avoid styling products that mightDry their hair. You want to be very careful with hair sprays, mousse products, gels etc. But there are a few tools I use to keep for certain hairstyles or offer a straightening.
How do I keep the nice curls in my hair?
Many biracial people have naturally beautiful curls when their hair is wet and wants to look like when the hair dries to keep. If you have naturally soft curls, one of our customers suggested a way that their stylesbiracial hair that works for them.
For those with softer, natural curls who just want more definition, this is a great technology. This style is well suited bi-racial hair types. For soft springy curls here is the procedure.
Wash hair at least 1x per week (on the other days just rinse)
Detangle hair every day
Set in a holiday conditioner. What helps detangle the hair and softens. SheaMoisture Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner is for this step.
Saturate hair withBlack Earth Protective Mist Bodifier
Treasured Locks Locks of Curls Curl Defining Pomade & Gel or other styling gel in his hair Put
Put a little hair oil
The dry air, can, if possible (you can put your hair in a ponytail to stretch it a bit or just let it air dry
In winter, use a hair dryer on the lowest temp, gently stretching the hair as you dry.
How do I control "frizziness" or crimp in biracial hair?
As I said earlier, expectations are important when itcomes to the hair. Most of the time biracial children are not to hair, who as smooth as Caucasian or Asian children. can be removed as completely frizziness and / or curling require drastic methods and send a message that natural hair is undesirable. But we have products that contribute to the frizzyness is to an extent. Natural-Laxer MIX is a treatment that can be applied about once a month. It is all natural and works gently tame wild hair. We have had people of differentEthnic groups that are very pleased with it. It does not really change the structure of the hair like a relaxer would. It can be used in the home and wears off after several weeks. For those looking for a more permanent solution could be a mild relaxer, a structural agent, or a kiddie perm be something to consider. Before you do, however, please read our precautions when it comes to permanent / relaxers (see below) occurs. If you are not familiar with them, please be informed before you make theDecision.
What about perms (relaxers) for biracial hair?
We often get inquiries about perms for young girls. Generally, we recommend against perms for prepubescent girls. Your hair and skin have not been fully developed and changing their hair texture this early in life (especially a permanent change) can send the message that her hair is not good enough. Our nine year old is proud of her natural hair and says she will never perm it. But our six-yearsays she wants. Ironically, it is the older, has the thicker hair. If they are old enough they can decide on your own. I use Natural-Laxer MIX on our older daughter. She has handled her hair much easier and improves the texture. I can mesh in about half of them used to take the time and I have seen a large reduction in the amount of hair combs left in the comb. Perming or relaxing the hair might seem like a simple solution for the confused / frizzy / hard-to-crestProblem. But there are some things you should know before you this way. We've seen unaware mothers actually things much worse by not knowing this before starting up. Consider the following before you start perming.
We do not recommend home box perms. People often ask us for a fixed period waves to recommend it. We do not recommend any perms because we do not sell. A beautician has told us that they are not the same quality as the salon perms. I do not know whether thetrue. But even if it is not a chemical relaxer or perm is a process that is best performed by a specialist. Severe damage can be done by the hair (which can never be repaired, it has to grow out). A relaxer, improperly applied it can be permanent damage to the scalp. The only compromise we would even consider this would be to take your child to school at a local beauty, if you do not just pay the money the salons are charging. At least they will get the perm under professionalSupervision. And the cost is usually a fairly small part of the cost in a salon.
If you insist on applying perms at home, business, please read and follow the instructions carefully. Do not keep perming the part of the hair that has already been treated. Only apply the perm to the new growth markets (the kinky stuff below). photographed perm the same part of a strand of hair is always a little each time. Eventually it will break. This is not "if" question. It is a "when".
If you startRelax your child's hair, you have to keep doing it. If the natural hair a certain length underneath the relaxed hair reached (hair grows from the root), the hair begins going through a transitional phase. At this point, the hair is very vulnerable to excessive breakage. Generally, a permanent wave is necessary every 6-8 weeks, unless you are prepared to transition back to natural hair. Transition, without proper precautions can be very traumatic because of the fracture.
IfYou relax your child's hair, you weaken the hair and the ability for the scalp to naturally oil itself. Permed hair is particularly sensitive and must be maintained even more diligently than natural hair. But, it is better to fry than trying hair with excessive heat, they are doing or at the end they break by combing it too aggressively perm.
How should I take with a ponytail?
As I mentioned, they are bound ideal hairstyles for little girls. Youkeep the hair from going wild and tangled wires. I can often be a few days from a style, too. But these styles can be tied hair disaster as in severe and even cause permanent hair loss. Here are some dos and don'ts are you will be aware of:
Don't-use common rubber bands to keep their hairstyles. Also avoid the bands with the metal clamps that grab and break kinky hair. Rubber bands cause too much friction on the hair and will eventually lead to the break. Immediately covered bands orsmooth tapes specifically for hair.
Thurs-remove bands from the hair every night before bed. Even the best bands should be removed before going to bed at night.
Do not pull the hair-tight. While it may be attractive when you see your daughter's eyebrows arching like she just a face lift could do damage to her scalp. When you start bumps around her hairline or elsewhere on her scalp notice, you may cause traction alopecia. Normally, change of hairstyleeasily reverses this. But if it continues such practices may lead to permanent hair loss.
What should I do while sleeping?
As described above, please remove narrow bands from hair before sleeping. decrease with a satin pillowcase or a satin sleep cap to friction with the pillow and help retain moisture in the hair.
Should I trim my ends?
The ends of the hair are the oldest parts because hair grows from the root. If the endsneglected, can they begin to split; damage even further down the hair. It is not intuitive. But, trimming the ends actually with longer hair. If you notice the ends of the hair is very dry, you should make sure that you do a good job conditioning. When they looked frayed, more than normal or split confused notice, they have trimmed. I neglected this for a long time with my girls. But since starting, I immediately noticed an improvement in theManageability of their hair. It was actually easier to comb just after trimming the ends.
How can I grow my hair faster?
I take a supplement for hair strength and another for the hair growth .. I have had a significant improvement in the condition of my hair and nails for over these supplements. Proper nutrition is important for good hair health.Supplements can certainly help. However, we do not recommend these products for children under the ageof 13. They are formulated for the needs of adults. I can recommend the use of Treasured Locks H2G Hair Growth Serum. I use it for me and the girls. The essential oils and emu oil to promote hair growth by stimulating the scalp and hair by the well oiled and smooth mixture.
